10/12/21Joe Muscarella--Varsity Golf--In last week's win over Ken East, Evan set a Starpoint footballl school record with 11 receptions for 135 yards. He also scored 4 touchdowns.Shannon Zugelder--Girls Varsity Cross Country--Shannon placed in the top ten for the premier race at McQuaid. Shannon also took first place in the team's dual meet win against Pioneer.Lydia Roselund--Girls Varsity Tennis--This past week Lydia scored the lone point against Williamsville East. Since that point, Lydia has won 5 matches in a row.Mara Beiter--Varsity Field Hockey--Mara has been a steady, supportive force on defense all season long. She makes big plays every game protecting the goal. Mara is a team player and leads the team through her tremendous work ethic.Honorable mention goes to Colby Lawrence and Josh Szymanski.
10/01/21Jason Richardson--Varsity Football--Jason rushed for 121 yards on 12 carries, scored 2 touchdowns, and recorded 8 tackles in the team's win at North Tonawanda.Alex Martorana--Varsity Field Hockey--Alex scored a goal and recorded an assist in the team's win against Eden. She played extremely well moving the ball and creating opportunities for her teammates and herself.
09/24/21Evan Floss--Varsity Football--In last week's win over Ken East, Evan set a Starpoint footballl school record with 11 receptions for 135 yards. He also scored 4 touchdowns.Adrianna Martino--Girls Varsity Swimming--In the team's win against Cheektowaga, the senior captain set a new Starpoint pool record in the breaststroke with a time of 1:10.47.Emma Browka--Girls Varsity Volleyball--Emma has been dominating the defensive end and delivering aces from the service line all season for the Spartans. She brings consistency to the team and works hard everyday to improve her game. Emma is a team leader and a powerful force behind the team's early season success.Sean Schifferle--Varsity Golf--Sean shot a 38 in the team's match against a tough Clarence team.Honorable mention goes to Lydia Roselund, Hailey Hickson and Travis Pollow.
09/16/21Alexis Lichtenberger--Girls Varsity Tennis--In the team's Hamburg match, Alexis won in straight sets coming back from a 1-4 deficit in the first. This was the deciding match in the team's victory over the Bulldogs.Carson Marcus--Varsity Football--Carson passed for over 200 yards and threw 3 touchdowns in the team's win at Hutch Tech on opening day.Carly Dell'Oso--Girls Varsity Volleyball--Carly has remained a powerful force in her senior year on the Girls Varsity Volleyball team. She leads with a positive attitude and remains consistent throughout her play. Carly has been versatile and swinging on both the outside and right side as a hitter this season.Justin Gerhard--Boys Varsity Volleyball--In three matches over the past week, the senior setter is averaging over 26 assists, six digs, and two service aces per match. The Spartans went 2-1 over that span with their lone loss coming to the #1 ranked small school in WNY, Canisius.Honorable mention goes to Tyler Grimm, Jason Richardson, Evan Dean, and Morgan Hamm.
06/11/21C.J. Uptegrove--Varsity Wrestling--CJ pinned a returning NYS qualifier from Falconer en route to going undefeated in the Falconer Round Robin Wrestling Tournament.Marah Schotz--Varsity Softball--Marah batted .455 with 4 runs scored, 5 RBI's and a homerun in last week's games.Honorable mention goes to Evan Floss and Lydia Roselund.
05/28/21Bailey Briggs--Varsity Softball--In 4 games last weeks, Bailey hit 4 homeruns, scored 11 runs, had 10 hits and 21 RBI's.Alyssa Armitage--Girls Varsity Track--Alyssa jumped 12 feet 3 inches in the pole vault breaking her own school record of 12 feet vs Sweet Home. She is currently ranked 2nd in the pole vault in NYS.Gage LaPlante--Varsity Wrestling--Gage won the 132 pound weight class at the Newfane Tournament this past Saturday.Nate Adams--Boys Varsity Track--Nate was a double winner in the team's win vs Sweet Home winning the 3200m with a time of 10:34 and the 1600m with a time of 4:51.
05/21/21Andrew Hearn--Varsity Baseball--In his first varsity at bat, Andrew hit a 2-run HR. He also pitched 2 innings of scoreless baseball and had 5 strikeouts in the team's game versus West Seneca West.
Jude Lord--Boys Varsity Tennis--In Jude's first tennis match ever for the Spartans, he was thrown into starting at 3rd singles. This is quite the task given he had never played on the team before. Jude rose to the challenge and not only won his match but only gave up two games in two sets helping the Spartans win their season opener 4-1.
Brad Converse--Boys Varsity Volleyball--At the end of the season, Brad was first on the team in solo blocks, second on the team in aces and kills, and is third on the team in digs for the season. Brad also ranks in the top 10 in all of these categories in WNY for this season. His leadership has helped guide the Spartans to their best season in percentage of wins (.750 winning percentage) and the first undefeated home record in twelve years of Spartan Volleyball. Brad's success this year comes in his first year moving from setter for the past two seasons to the right side.
05/10/21Mike Dumond--Varsity Football--Mike played a different wide receiver position at the beginning of week 5 then ended up playing quarterback during the game vs. North Tonawanda. Mike was 3-6 passing with a touchdown. He also punted the ball well to helpget the team out of poor field position.
Justin Gerhard--Boys Varsity Volleyball--Justin has been averaging almost 30 assists per match this year. He is coming off his best performance this year, guiding the offense to a huge, five game victory over West Seneca East. In that match, Justin made one of the playes of the year when he made an absolutely huge stuff block on West Seneca's 6'8" Penn State volleyball commit that provided the spark the team need in game 5 to win the match.
04/29/21Nate Lee--Varsity Football--Nate scored two TD's in the team's week one game against South Park. Additionally, Nate ranks in the top 15 of all receivers in WNY.Ian DeWilde--Boys Varsity Volleyball--Ian is averaging 10 kills, 6 digs and over 2 service aces per match which places him in the top 10 of each category in WNY.
Honorable Mention goes to Ella Keller and Jason Richardson.
03/26/21Faith Lunn--Girls Varsity Basketball--In their last basketballl game, Faith scored 15 points to lead her team in a 50-48 victory against Will East. She also dominated with her athletic ability on defense.t
Max Ciepiela--Boys Varsity Hockey--Max scored 5 goals and added 3 assists in their 2 sectional games. In addition, Max recorded his 100th point in Tuesday night's win over Lew-Port. Max accomplished this feat in only 3 years and was selected as a 1st Team All-Star.
Alec Kirk--Boys Varsity Hockey--Alec scored 2 goals and added 3 assists in their two sectional games. He also sealed the team's victory on Tuesday vs Lew-Port with a big goal midway through the 2nd period just after Lew-Port scored to make it 3-1.
03/18/21Carly Dell'Oso--Girls Varsity Basketball--In the last two games, Carly has scored 10 and 12 points and continued to rally her teammates and be a leader. She is continually doing what is best for her team above herself.Mackenzie Hutchins--Girls Varsity Bowling--Mackenzie placed 2nd overall in all of WNY large schools at sectionals as an individual bowler. She had high games of 224, 212 and 187.Jude Lord--Boys Varsity Hockey--Jude is a leader on and off the ice and has been a big reason for the team's success this year. Jude was asked to play defense this year, after playing forward last year. Jude stepped right in like he has played the position his whole career. Jude is tied for 2nd on the team in plus/minus +35 thru 11 games.
03/11/21Billy Casullo--Boys Varsity Hockey--Billy recorded a hat trick in the team's win over Iroquois/Alden and scored goals in both the Depew and the Amherst game tallying 5 goals in his last 3 games.Dexter Brooks--Boys Varsity Basketball--Dexter is a senior co-captain for the varsity basketball team. In the last five games, Dexter has averaged 16.3 points, 7.3 rebounds and 35 assists per game.
03/04/21Ben Wichhart--Boys Varsity Swimming--Ben is the leading point scorer for the boys team this season At ECIC's, Ben finished 2nd in the 200 yard freestyle, 6th in the 100 yard butterfly and was a member of both top 10 finishing relays (200 yard & 400 yard freestyle).Natalie O'Brien--Girls Ice Hockey--Natalie recorded a hat trick in Monday's game against Kenmore.Mackenzie Hutchins--Girls Varsity Bowling--Mackenzie bowled a 636 set against Williamsville South on Tuesday that included a 279 game.Nick Brady--Boys Varsity Bowling--Nick bowled a 665 set against Williamsville South on Tuesday that included a 267 game.Honorable Mention goes to Madison Mallone, Alec Kirk and William Mainstone.
02/25/21Sam Walters--Boys Varsity Basketball--Sam has 25 three pointers on the year and broke his brother's career record for three's. His brother Ben's record for three pointers was 85 -- Sam has 87 so far for his career.Max Ciepiela--Boys Varsity Hockey--Max is leading the team in goals with 5 and is tied for total points with 7.Bobby Taylor--Boys Varsith Hockey--Bobby had chipped in with 1 goal, 3 assists and leads the team with a +11 plus/minus on defense.
11/09/20Elizabeth Dallas--Girls Varsity Swimming--Elizabeth is a winner in both the 50 freestyle and 100 freestyle individual events along with being a part of the A relays for both the 200 and 400 free relays.Honorable mention goes to Trevor Pollow.
11/02/20Mike Dumond--Boys Varsity Soccer--Mike scored the team's game winning goal against Amherst in their 1-0 win.Allison Smith--Girls Varsity Swimming--Allison is undefeated this season in both the 200 IM and the 100 Breaststroke.Honorable mention goes to Alex Rudnick, Marlea Petroziello and Lydia Roselund.
10/26/20Nate Adams--Boys Varsity Cross Country--Nate is currently undefeated on the season. Additionally, he ran a stellar race against Hamburg finishing first overall on a very challenging course.Max Ciepiela--VarsityGolf--Max shot a 79 at ECIC's in very difficult conditions on a tough golf course. His score was good enough for a top 20 finish at ECIC's and a trip to the Section VI Championships in the spring.Honorable mention goes to Dom Grandinetti, Alexis Lichtenberger and Meagan Zupo.
10/19/20Cristian Donahue--Boys Varsity Soccer--Cristian scored two goals and an assist, including the game winner in the team's win vs. West Seneca East.Kristina Valnarov--Girls Varsity Cross Country--Kristina won the girls meet versus Sweet Home with a time of 22:53 to help lead the team to an overall victory.Honorable mention goes to Tyler Grimm, Emma Nesbit and Michael Zupo.
