    Zonta Club of Lockport sponsors a Young Woman in Public Affairs Award to a graduating Senior.  It's purpose is to encourage high school women to enter careers or seek leadership positions in social policy-making government and volunteer organizations.  This is a $750 award. Application from Mrs. Brogan in Student Services must be mailed by January 18,  2019. (1/18/19)

     
    The Benjamin Milak Memorial Scholarship is for Seniors who struggle with a hearing loss, a learning disability or who have battled cancer.  An application can be downloaded at www.milakscholarship.org  and must be received by February 1, 2019.  (2/1/19)
     
    LCTV is offering 3 scholarships for Seniors who reside in the City or Town of Lockport: 
    1.  A LCTV student volunteer - $1,500
    2.  Outstanding community service - $1,000
    3.  Majoring in a communications related field - $1,200

    New York Water Environment Association scholarships are now available to seniors  pursuing a graduate degree in environmental/civil engineering or environmental science.   See their website for more information. Deadline is February 28, 2019. (2/27)

    American Association of University Women is offering a $5,000 scholarship for senior girls who will be attending college in the fall of 2019.  Applicant must have a GPA of at least 95. You may obtain an application at their website aauw.buffalo.edu/scholarships  Deadline is March 1, 2019. (2/28)
     
    The Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising National Scholarship Competition is available for the following majors:  fashion design, interior design, merchandise & marketing, social media, visual communications and graphic design.     The Kenan Arts Council Scholarship for $1,000 is for a senior who plans to attend college and major in art, dance, design, music, or theater.  Applicants must have a high school average of at least 80.  Application in Student Services or www.kenancenter.org and must be postmarked by March 29, 2019.     The Fireman’s Association of the State of New York will be awarding 25 $1,500 scholarships to High School Seniors entering college.  Deadline is March 15th. Apply on the Fireman’s Association Website. www.fasny.com/scholarship. (3/15)
     

    The WNY Nurses Memorial Scholarship is  for seniors who will be attending an accredited BS school of nursing (not ECC, NCCC or Trocaire).  Application in Student Services must be postmarked by April 1, 2019 (4/01)

    New York Schools Insurance Reciprocal is offering 3 scholarships for seniors:  The Bambino Scholarship for a special education student who will be attending college, The Jensen Scholarship for a student who has excelled in design during high school, and the Goncalves Scholarship for a student who demonstrates an involvement for a cause or organization that promotes social justice, equal opportunity, relief of human suffering or other aspiration within the meaning of humanitarian activity.  Applications are in Student Services or www.nysir.org with a deadline of on or before April 8, 2019.     Lockport Elks Lodge #41 has two Scholarship opportunities for you.  The Law/Enforcement Scholarship application is now available in Student Services for Seniors pursuing a degree in all aspects of Law and Law Enforcement.  The Rodney Conrad Sr. Memorial Scholarship is for Seniors pursuing a 4-year degree program in Education, Engineering, Sciences, Humanities, Business, Accounting or Mathematics.     This year's Locked In to Lock Out Cancer event is Friday, March 15th to Saturday, March 16th from 6:00 PM to 6:00 AM.  Pledge and permission forms can be picked up in Mrs. Haskill's room.     The Starpoint Scholastic bowl team started off the season in fine fashion last evening by defeating Akron And Medina. The Starpoint team scored 420 points  where Akron and Medina scored 100 points and 90 points, respectively. The Spartans were led by Junior John Kasprzak, senior captain Dave Wanamaker, Junior Max Clarke, and making his debut in fine fashion, Senior, Gavin Touhey.  (1/18)

    The Boys Varsity Basketball team came back from a 15 point halftime deficit to tie the game in the 4th quarter but eventually fell to Williamsville South 77-71 last night. Adam Rankie scored 27 points for the Spartans while Justin Mott added 17. (1/18

    Starpoint played an away conference game last night against Williamsville South. The Spartans struggled to score in the first three quarter which put us behind 49-20 going into the fourth. We had a spark from Riley Simpson in the fourth quarter who scored 12 of his game high 18 points. But it was too little to late, Will South took home the win beating the Spartans 65-36. (1/18)

    All JV Boys Soccer players who either played last season or are looking to tryout in 2019. Futsal will begin on Monday, February 4th at 6:00 PM in the Fricano Gym. Anyone interested in trying out for JV Soccer in the Fall is welcome to come out. Futsal nights will be Mondays and Thursdays from 6:00 - 8:00 PM and will run until the end of May. Come out and work on your foot skills. (2/4)

    Congratulations to this week’s Broadway Knitting Mills Athletes of the Week. From Boys Bowling-Nick Brady—who bowled a 247 game and a 663 set in the win over Williamsville South.And from Boys Hockey-Chuck Schmidl—who helped lead his team to a 7-2 win over North Tonawanda.  He had 3 goals and 2 assists and has been a great leader on and off the ice. Nick and Chuck report to L-16. Honorable mention goes to Natalie O’Brien from Girls Hockey
