Welcome to the World of A-11 (Grade 4) - Mrs. Abernathy's Class

Welcome to the classroom pages for Room A-11 Grade 4!

I hope this website will be a way for parents, students to stay connected to what is going on in A-11 for the 2018-2019 school year!

I will be sending home monthly newsletters. Students will fill out Learning Journals at the end of each week which parents/guardians need to sign and return by Tuesday of each week. I often send a little message with learning journals as needed. The purpose is two fold. It lets us understand their learning, thinking and great things about them individually, but it also lets us know how their writing skills are progressing through the year. It is evidence of their expression of ideas through written communication.

Homework is scheduled to be 40 minutes or less a night Monday-Friday, unless a student is struggling in an area and needs a few minutes extra of practice. (Ex. practicing math facts for 5 minutes with a friend or family member to make math easier in the future weeks).

Please note:If a student has an instrumental lesson, the work to make up from the period missed in class is not part of the 40 minutes listed above.

Work is sent home as it is returned in classroom mailboxes. Some work may be stored in writing folders, portfolio evidence or placed in notes to help study for that subject.

Please check the NEWS page to check the latest information.

 Sincerely,

Mrs. Abernathy
