  • Physical Education/ Health activities your child will participate in this year:

    • Personal health and fitness: tag games, locomotor & manipulatives: gallop, skip, slide, hop, jump rope

    • Team sport skills: football, soccer, hockey, basketball, baseball, softball, volleyball

    • Individual sport skills: gymnastics, tumbling, yoga, rhythms & dance, bowling, jump rope, mini golf

    • Racquet sports: tennis, badminton

    • Cooperatives: partner, small group & whole group initiatives: relay races, parachute activities 

    • Recreational games: ladder ball, kan jam, washer toss, horseshoes, corn hole, bocce, curling

    • The Olympic Games

    • We will invent our own centers and invent our own games

    • We will use heart rate monitors as we learn about our heart, lungs, bones, teeth, senses

    • We will learn about My plate including healthy vs. unhealthy food choices 

    All while having fun in the gym, fitness room, and outside too!

    Classroom Expectations:

    • Students should wear comfortable clothes & sneakers on gym days.  Please work with your child to help them learn how to tie their shoes.

    • Earrings must be post; no hoops or dangly earrings

    • Come to class with a positive attitude, listening ears and be ready to play and learn.



    Physical Education Weekly Schedule:

    • Your child's classroom teacher will let you know the days of the week your child will have Physical Education.  

    • Two times a week for 40 minutes will be in the gym.

    • Beginning this year your child will be in the new fitness room once a week for 40 minutes. 

    Communication Home:

    • This school year we will use seesaw to communicate.  One account will be created for your child that will include all Fricano special area classes.  An individual folder will be set up for Phys. Ed.

    • Feel free to message your child's physical education teacher with questions, comments or concerns at any time throughout the year on the seesaw app, by email or give us a call

    Other fun activities planned for this school year:

    • On November 22, 2022  Fricano students will participate in the 9th annual Turkey Trot.  Kindergarteners and first graders will walk, jog or run a ½ mile.  Second graders will do ¾ of a mile.  

    • June 16, 2023 is the date reserved for Fricano Field Day. What will the theme be this year?

     

    We are looking forward to an exciting school year filled with lots of fun, physical activity and new beginnings!
