EXPECTATIONS FOR LEARNING

EXPECTATIONS FOR LEARNING AND ACHIEVEMENT: MY BELIEF AND GOAL FOR YOUR CHILD:
1. I BELIEVE that each and every student is capable of reaching their potential.
2. My GOAL is that your child reach their individual potential
HOW I WILL HELP STUDENTS ACHIEVE THIS GOAL:
1. Each student will be provided with instruction and assessments that are compatible with their individual learning needs. Lessons and assessments will be designed to address all types of learners.
2. An atmosphere that is conducive to learning and academic risk taking will be provided. Students will be provided with an orderly environment with familiar procedures embedded within each learning experience. Established procedures within the classroom not only reduce the need for classroom management but as well allow students take ownership of their learning due to a reduced need for direction. This can greatly increase student confidence
a. It is my belief that students need a certain amount of structure in order to feel secure and comfortable within their learning environment.
b. Students must feel confident enough in their environment to take risks regarding content. To help in this area we, as a class, make an agreement that it is O.K. to laugh WITH each other but NEVER AT each other. Laughing at my own silly mishaps, seems to help students realize that nobody is perfect and that making a mistake is not “the end of the world”. We discuss that some of the greatest scientific discoveries happened accidentally.
