On Saturday, the Varsity Indoor Track and Field teams finished a breakout season with three event winners and thirteen top-5 finishes at the Section 6 State Qualifier. Shannon Zugelder took third against Western New York's best in the 3000 meters, finishing under 11 minutes for the third time this season. Congratulations Shannon!

To participate, come to Student Services or StarMart and pick up a question and answer form. Students will find QR codes hanging in the lobby that when scanned, will take them to a short biography of an influential African American. Read these and correctly answer the question on the sheet. Turn that sheet into StarMart during homeroom and receive a prize. Sixth graders - your homeroom teachers have the QR codes as well. Ask for permission to scan them if you'd like to participate. Take a look at the updated bulletin board as well - we've added some new names for you to learn about!

This week futsal will take place on Wednesday the 16th in the High School gym from 7:30-9 for all JV and Varsity players boys or girls who are interested in getting some touches on the ball. No outdoor shoes permitted in the gym.

The JV girls basketball team finished their season with a strong win over Iroquois. Natalie Prezioso led the way with 16, Cloe darlak and Lauren Serena helped close it out with strong overall play. The girls finished 14-5 on the season, and all deserve a lot of credit for a great season!

Last night the modified girls basketball team traveled to West Seneca East to play their last game of the season. The Lady Spartans came out on top with a 40 to 28 win. Scoring 2 points each for the team was Baylee Budz, Becca Danwin, Torri Kowaleski, and Jade Goranites. Scoring 4 points each for the lady spartans was Maddie Walby and Isobella Figliomeni. Contributing 5 points was Kennedy Szpilewski. Scoring 6 points each for the team was Maria Giomundo and Gianna Abramo. Lastly, scoring 7 points was Olivia Schmidt. Coach would like to thank you for a fun season, and appreciates all your hard work! Go Spartans!

Be sure to congratulate Zach Caldwell, Kole Haseley, and Griffin Laplante if you see them in the halls. Over the weekend these three competed at the state qualifiers. Zach took 5th place, Kole took 4th place and griffin took 1st place. Griffin will go on to represent Starpoint section 6 at the state tournament in Albany. Nice job guys!

Coach Petrica will be starting futsal in the high school gym this Thursday, February 10th at 7:30pm until 9pm. Anyone who intends on trying out for Varsity or JV to come out and strengthen your skills and touches on the ball. Soccer equipment is required and NO outdoor shoes should be worn to play in the gym. Pass this information onto anyone interested.

The modified wrestling team finished off strong at home last night. Earning wins were Abe Eckler, George Peehler, Connor Proefrock, Kyle Eleey, and Jameson Clark. If you find yourself bored this Saturday come and support super stars Griffin Laplante and Kole Haseley as they wrestle at sectionals for their chance to move on to states. It will be hosted at Starpoint and wrestling starts at 9 am.

Congratulations and shout out go out to Nick Brady of the boys varsity bowling team. Last evening, Nick bowled a 300 game in our match vs Clarence at Clarence Bowling Academy. It was Nick's first 300 game of his career and is a monumental feat - Nick had 12 strikes in a row in game 3 of the match and ended up with a 708 set.

Congratulations to the JV Cheerleaders for placing 1st at the ECIC competition this past weekend! The JV cheerleaders beat out 10 teams in their division and had one of the highest stunt execution scores in the entire competition. Coach Mills and Coach Logal are so proud of you!

Yesterday, indoor track team member Shannon Zugelder finished 8th out of 47 runners in the 1000 meters, with a new school record and Sectional qualifying time. On the boys' side, Brandon Clarke ran tough for 16 laps and improved his personal best in the 3200 meters by 40 seconds! Keep up the great work!

On Wednesday the JV girls basketball team beat Sweet Home 37-23. Natalie Prezioso led the way with 8 points. Cloe Darlak and Lauren Serena played important minutes in the 4th quarter to close out the game.

From Wrestling Griffin LaPlante. Griffin won the 132 pound weight class at the ECIC Championships.
From Boys Ice Hockey, Bobby Taylor. In the team's last 4 games, Bobby has recorded 3 assists while playing stellar defense. His high level play on the blue line has helped propel his team to first place in the standings.

The JV girls basketball team had a big win over Sweet Home last night, 59-25. Natalie Prezioso led the way with 15 points. Lauren Serena hit a big 3 in the 4th quarter.

The celebratory month, also known as National African American History Month, is an annual celebration of achievements by black Americans and a time for rejoicing, celebrating and honoring African American people, past and present.
