2014 Alumni Baseball Game

  • 9th Annual Alumni Baseball Game

    June 14, 2014

The 9th annual baseball alumni game was held Saturday, June 14th, and it was another exciting game.  The field was in great shape and the alumni showed they can still play this great game.

Split into odd years (home team) vs even years (visitors), the evens got started in the top of the first when Cory Regnet (’12) hit a triple followed by Mike Kalinowski’s (’82) RBI single.  The bottom of the third, both Speakers—Derek (’07) and “Stan” (’13) reached on singles.  A double and an error followed to score 3 runs and the 3-1 lead.

Bottom of 4 again “Stan” got on and was driven in by his brother.  An error made it 5-1.

Top of 5th, Cory hit his 2nd triple and drove in 2 runs.  Kalinowski’s sacrifice fly made it 5-4.

Bottom of 5, a threat ended with a diving catch by Rob Fraass (’89) in right field.  It stayed 5-4 because of outstanding defense.

Top of 8, Justin Tate (’00), Rob Brooks (’88), and Rob Pusateri (’88) reached base on singles.  With one out, Regnet had his 4th hit of the game scoreing 2 for a 6-5 lead for Even Years.

Bottom of 9, Alex Boyce (’07), Kyle Kozlowski (’07), and Derek Speaker had base hits to tie the game.  With 2 outs, Jared Prosser (’09) singled to win the game for the Odd Years 7-6.

This year’s baseball team coached by Tim Racey, won the Section VI A-1 Championship—only 2nd sectional championship in school history.  Our other sectional championship was in 1988 and 3 players—Fraass, Pusateri, and Brooks played on that team and played in this year’s alumni game.

The crowd enjoyed the game and all spectators & players had a hot dog lunch to wrap up another great day for our alumni.  Thanks to the current high school players Matt Cross & Austin Meenaghan for helping out.
